Gunnison County Sheriff John Gallowich has chosen a former Sheriff’s Office employee as his new undersheriff. Gallowich administered the oath of office to former patrol lieutenant Scott Jackson — who last year settled a lawsuit against Gunnison County — Monday morning.
Gallowich said late Tuesday evening that he chose Jackson based on observations of the former lieutenant's demeanor during his tenure with the Sheriff’s Office.
“Scott leads by example with the highest degree of honesty and integrity,” Gallowich wrote in an e-mail. “As a Lieutenant I personally observed Scott's leadership abilities as well as his overall knowledge of law enforcement, and his ability to interact with our citizens in a very positive manner. Scott held the respect of the Deputies that worked at the Sheriff’s Office as well as our citizens.”
