Summer camp season is an important time of the year in the development of high school wrestlers. It gives them the opportunity to compete against the top wrestlers in their state, while gaining a season’s worth of mat time — in a matter of a few days.
A hidden benefit that also comes with participating in summer camps is the opportunity to meet with and learn from college coaches and athletes — who could one day become those high school wrestlers’ own coaches and teammates.
If an institution runs their camp right, they could unknowingly influence a wrestler’s decision to commit to that school and program upon graduating from high school.
