Robert Sterling Moffatt, 59, of Gunnison, Colo., passed away at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo., on Wednesday, Nov. 20 after a long, debilitating illness.
Robert was born on Oct. 5, 1950 and was the son of Lucille and Col. John Sterling Moffatt who preceded him in death. He is survived by a brother, John Scott Moffatt, of (Merritt Island, Fla.), nephew John Moffatt and niece Anne Moffatt of Omaha, Neb.
Robert, being the son of a military family, lived in various European countries growing up. He was an expert skeet shooting competitor, winning a European skeet competition.
For many years, Robert owned and ran a local sign shop in Gunnison, Bobcat Signs.
Robert was an avid animal lover and had adopted and cared for many beloved cats in his lifetime. His pets always came first in his life.
A memorial luncheon will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14 from noon-1:30 p.m. at the St. Peter’s Parish Hall. After the luncheon there will be an internment at the cemetery. Bob will be laid to rest next to his mother, Lucille, in the Gunnison Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the animal shelter Gunnison Valley Animal Welfare League.
