Western Colorado University’s annual rail jam will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 from 6-9 p.m. at Cranor Hill Ski Area to accommodate a wider range of athletes. This year’s event is called Bails ‘n’ Rails.
“The new venue allows us to create a larger, more fun course for our riders to compete on,” said Ryan Zimmerman, a member of the student-led Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE) Project, which is hosting the event.
Hosting the rail jam at Cranor Hill, located northeast of the Gunnison, expands competition to all athletes who are 18 years old or older. Previously, when the event was on campus, only Western students were allowed to participate.
