It simply doesn’t make sense.

Months after a pair of Democratic lawmakers introduced public-lands protection legislation that included provisions worked on long and hard by Gunnison County Commissioners, our 3rd Congressional District representative released his own “discussion draft” of a bill that includes many of the same provisions — yet, lacks other notable proposals.

Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet and Rep. Joe Neguse early this year introduced the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Economy — or CORE Act. It contains measures which directly impact Gunnison County — including a formal designation of the boundary for Curecanti National Recreation Area, placing it under the sole direction of the National Park Service (Curecanti has been co-managed by the Bureau of Reclamation and the NPS since 1965).
