The temperature outside was 1 degree when I woke this past Saturday morning. Times owner Chris Dickey signed a bunch of us up for “Legs, Kegs and Eggs,” a 5K fundraiser that started and ended at The Dive and benefitted Gunnison Valley Mentors.

The Friday prior to registration, six of us — all women — agreed to participate. It was Mr. Dickey’s attempt at implementing “forced fun” for his staff. We gathered at Times headquarters Saturday before heading to The Dive to don our St. Patrick’s Day bling.

Along the way, the six of us — all in different stages of life — laughed and told stories. We compared notes about life, and shared new recipes we had seen online. We discussed upcoming projects, how we can be more creative and the best way to survive winter. Weight loss, health issues and aging all made it into the conversation.
