Louise D. Cross, summer resident of Almont since 1984, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in El Paso, Texas on Sept. 26. She was born in El Paso on January 8, 1922. She met her husband Ralph there and became a supportive Army wife. She traveled the world, including all 50 states. But she always treasured the summers spent in Colorado and the wonderful friendships she found there. Her love of God was expressed in all she did. An active member of the Tin Cup Chapel, she served on the board of directors for several years. She taught her family to love the Lord, life, Colorado, fishing and exploring. Her family dubbed her “Best Fisherwoman in Taylor Canyon.” Louise leaves a big hole in the hearts of many, especially her family: daughter, Connie Cross Pope and son-in-love, F. Patrick Pope; grandsons Duke (Chri) and Zachary; great-grandsons Joshua (Lydia), Reece, Patrick and Cameron. We will continue her legacy by enjoying the canyon she loved so much.
