“How lucky are we to have someone that makes saying goodbye so hard.” -A. A. Milne James “Jim” Lowell Dotts found peace in Sun City, Ariz., on Oct. 17 at the age of 84. He is remembered by his wife of 65 years, Nancy Sue Dotts; his children Wes, Kristi, Dave and Tom as well as their spouses EJ, Pete and Natalia. He is also survived by his baker’s dozen of grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. His brothers Myron, Irwin and Ray and their wives Ruth, Edna and Audrey, preceded him in death. Jim was born in Gunnison to Raymond Royal and Mary Elva on Feb. 24, 1934. After graduating high school and joining the Air Force he married the love of his life, Nancy, on Dec. 11, 1953 in Fort Worth, Texas. After four kids, various moves, and 20 years of service, Jim retired from the Air Force and returned to Gunnison. He worked for the City of Gunnison, holding various jobs from dog-catcher to building and plans inspector before moving to Sun City. Jim was a devoted father, husband, and friend. His favorite hobbies were golf and playing the banjo. Knowing him, he is up in heaven playing golf with his brother Ray and his buddies Otto, Paul and Emil.
