Harry Woods, born in 1947, passed away on Aug. 31, 2020. He was surrounded by friends and family. The Crested Butte Mountain Theatre would like to honor his legacy by collecting stories and photos that you have to share with us. We will be putting together a tribute for Harry.

Harry moved to Crested Butte in April of 2012, bringing with him a passion for the theater and many years of experience in all facets of theater, from acting to directing, design to program management (University of Kansas, University of Wyoming, Cheyenne Little Theatre Players).

Harry seamlessly fit into the CB community and was beloved by all who had the pleasure of working with him. He acted in and directed many productions with CBMT, including “Annie,” “Oliver,” “Cabaret,” and “The Laramie Project.”

From Chris Dickey’s article in the Gunnison County Times in 2017: “Woods believes in approaching life — and every day in it — with a fresh perspective, untainted by judgment or prejudice or anger. And the beauty of devoting a life to theater is that you get to work to bring happiness, understanding and, hopefully, acceptance into the lives of others.

“In this world, if you can bring any kind of joy or pleasure to people, that is what theater is all about,” Woods says.
