Kay was a wonderful woman who will be missed and cherished by her family and friends. Kay was a loving wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Kay was born in Springfield, Mo., on Sept. 21, 1945. She graduated from Gunnison High School and attended two years of college at Western State College. Kay was married to Harry on Feb. 11, 1967; they were married 51 years. Kay worked as a banker in several different roles for 40 years. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She also enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing and playing cards. Kay is survived by her beloved husband Harry; children Gloria and Kevin McCurley, Desolee and Nate Gibson; grandchildren Krystle and Cody Kratzer, Brittiany and Michael Wojcik, Konnor and Makayla McCurley, and Cameron Pennartz; greatgrandchildren Jadyn Pennartz, Charlie McCurley and Teegan Wojcik; siblings Nedra Barr, Regna Applegate, Rebecca Cooper, Sue Casebolt, Curtis Applegate, Clon Applegate, Joe Applegate; 24 nieces and nephews; 43 great nieces and nephews; two great-great nephews; along with other family and friends. Kay is preceded in death by parents Glenn and Wanda Applegate; mother and father in law, Rachel and Ace Averill and Papa Ralph and Gee Gee Mick; four brothers-in-law, Bobby Jean Averill, Ted Averill, Billy Mick, and Bill Barr; great nephew Ace Averill and great niece Cassidy Casebolt. Her Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 28 at Circle 3 Cowboy Fellowship church located at 62885 LaSalle Road in Montrose, Colo., 81401. Jason Casebolt, Kay’s nephew, will be officiating.
