What do you think when you hear the word Thanksgiving?

If you’re anything like me, it’s Butterball turkey. Green bean casserole. Candied yams. And cranberry sauce.

For many of us, these were the Thanksgiving delicacies on which we were raised — foods pumped full of high-fructose corn syrup, maltodextrin and other highly processed derivatives of grain that are a far cry from the sustenance hunted and gathered by Pilgrims and Native Americans near Plymouth Rock some 400 years ago.

Or so the story goes.
