Elouise Bouwhuis, 81, passed away peacefully Nov. 29 at home with her family by her side.

She was born in Franklin, Utah on Aug. 24, 1937 to Joseph and Zeruah Thomson. She married Chris Bouwhuis in 1956 and lived in Denver for nearly 50 years, they had three children. They always had a love for Gunnison and were able to live there for 16 years.

She will be remembered most for her beautiful gardens and her floral creations, as well as her generous heart that was infectious and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband Chris, and is survived by her sister Roma Freeman of Logan, Utah and by her children; Brad Bouwhuis (Mur) of Santa Barbara, Calif., Christie Bonnell (Mike) of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Carrie Yadauga (Jim) of Gunnison, as well as four grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

A celebration of her life will be scheduled next spring as she is laid to rest in the Pitkin cemetery.
