Capital projects to see reduction in 2020

Salary increases and higher utility rates are included in next year’s proposed Gunnison County budget. However, spending is expected to decrease for 2020, due in large part to fewer capital projects.

The annual budget process is underway with the goal of adopting it by the state-mandated deadline of Dec. 15. The county’s proposed general fund for 2020 is $17,035,447, compared to $17,520,510 this year.

The total county budget is significantly larger, with proposed expenditures of $110,939,836 in 2020. However, more than half of that figure, or $57,869,409, is for Gunnison Valley Health.
