In a situation nearly identical to four years ago, Gunnison County offi cials didn’t complete counting ballots impacting most local races in this year’s election until Wednesday at about 5 p.m.

However, officials say reasons for the delay this time around were much different than four years ago. Wednesday afternoon, they cited new requirements stemming from a mandated state election audit paired with a complicated and lengthy statewide ballot for the abnormally long processing time.
