Charles Dan Pierce, age 70, of Gunnison passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 12 at his home in Gunnison. A Colorado native, he graduated from Western State College in 1970 and started his teaching career. He taught in Colorado Springs for 30 years before retiring and moving back to Gunnison. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved bird hunting with his dogs, bow hunting and fishing. Dan was a wonderful, generous, kindspirited man who loved animals, Western Wrestling, his family, and most of all his wife of 37 years, Linda. Known as Uncle Dan to many, he enjoyed laughing and talking with friends and family. He is survived by his wife Linda, his sister Vikki, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Viola, father Chuck, sister Diane and brother John. Please join us in celebrating Dan’s life well lived at the Elks Lodge BPOE 1623 on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gunnison Valley Animal Welfare League (GVAWL).
