Small-town sports have their upsides — and down. Teammates are often close friends, but coaches can be hard to find.
When a coach steps down, there’s no guarantee a community member will step up to fill that job. On top of that, finding someone who wants to move to the Gunnison Valley — if they can find a job and housing — can be just as hard.
Yet, another good thing about life in a small town is that the community is basically one big family. No matter how dysfunctional things may seem at times, when a family member needs help, people are there.
