Carl David Yeager II, “Dave”, a loving family man and trusted master mechanic, took his last breath on Jan. 12 at the age of 56 in his home.

Dave is survived by his parents, Carl (Margo) Yeager and Jane Yeager; his wife, Leigh Ann Yeager; his children, Shawn (Leah) Seckman, and Ginny (Chris) Baylor; and his grandchildren, Brookelin Seckman and Waylon Baylor.

Dave was born in National City, Calif., on April 8, 1963. He was the youngest of four children. With his sisters Lawan, Sherri and Sandi he grew up in Southern California. He enjoyed the fast paced world of all motorsports, building and racing stock cars, and cheering on his “teams” in the NFL, MLB and Nascar. Dave was a devout family man, putting his wife, children and grandchildren before all else. Dave was known for having an infectious laugh, captivating stories and his philanthropy. His love for the Lord, Jesus Christ, was a driving force behind his generosity and love.

He moved to Gunnison in 1993. He worked hard and diligently for Alpine Express and The Performance Shop before building his legacy at Mechanic On Duty with Darryl Robbins, established in 2003. Dave had a sharp skill set and love of his trade. His working knowledge of all things mechanical, big heart and caring soul made an impact on his customers, clients and family.

Services will be held Sunday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church in Gunnison with a reception to follow at the Yeagers’ home.
