The other day while I was running and my 9-year-old daughter Judit was biking next to me, I was deep in thought about the places where I had run before: Santa Cruz, Berekley and San Francisco in California, Milwaukee, Wisc., Saint Petersburg, Fla., and Crested Butte. Even in Mexico City and Interlaken, Switzerland.

But then I remembered another place — Leadville. I have done a half marathon there, and I loved it! I love that “tiny” mining town because of its difficult terrain, altitude and that it’s not as popular and expensive of a place to race as elsewhere.

Then I thought that I don’t need to pay big money to run. I can grab my cheap tennis shoes, take my daughter and run here in beautiful Gunnison. But that is not all that I was thinking.
