Voters select ‘Gunni’ as the town’s preferred nickname

In the Gunnison Arts Center’s (GAC) “SonofaGunn” democratic process, the people have decided: the colloquial nickname for Gunnison should be spelled with an “I” instead of a “Y.”

Over the past two weekends, audiences at the annual moderately-irresponsible SonofaGunn review of life and times in the Gunnison Valley were asked to vote on whether the city’s name should be affectionately condensed to ‘Gunny’ or `Gunni; with rationales for both buried in the show; their votes were tallied as tickets dropped in two jars at the theater.
