Foul mood mustn’t stop good work

In 1848 the United States fulfilled a significant portion of its “manifest destiny” — otherwise known as conquest of the West — by forcefully claiming more than half a million square miles of land formerly controlled by Mexico. After a brief but bloody war, suddenly all or portions of several states, including Colorado, that we now know to be ours, as if by birthright, became property of the U.S. government.
