Board opts for maximum amount allowed by law

Leaders of the Gunnison Watershed RE1J School District are planning to ask voters in this November’s election for the maximum mill levy override allowed. The RE1J School Board voted Monday to proceed with a ballot initiative asking voters to approve a $2.5 million tax increase with no sunset provision. Only one board member — Don Hagar — voted against the action.
