A mining company’s proposal to cleanup a historic site near Crested Butte is off the table. U.S. Energy in a letter to state regulators last Thursday withdrew an application under Colorado’s Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCUP). Instead, President Mark Larsen stated, U.S. Energy intends to resume its focus on permitting to develop a mine.
