A recent article in the Times by Alan Wartes on the Colorado State Water Plan piqued my interest — because of a possible solution to the state’s water shortfall that the plan leaves unexplored.

The pitch for a pot shop in Gunnison by two local businessmen has opened the door to a pressing question with ample room for debate: Should city policy be changed to allow for commercial activity related to marijuana? The businessmen think so, citing tax revenue enterprises such as the one they envision would bring city coffers. They also point to the quickness with which the industry is growing elsewhere around the state.
